So afraid of the work
We're afraid it would be
So ashamed just to look
At the harm that we're
Causing
Alarmed but we're so
Deer-in-headlight-prone
Shirking the staring-us-in-the-face
Urgency, Need
As we seek out the lowest price
See to our interests
Invest in the profiteer pirates
The shipwrecks they've caused
Deeply under the surface
And we see the placid serene
Our great trauma the laugh lines
Around our own eyes
The impoverished, dying
Ignored
It's deplorable.
